In 2019, I was part of a group of NIDA students that initiated the first ever NIDA Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras float. Our theme was ‘Storytellers of the future’, and we created a series of three skeletal sculptures based off past NIDA alumni’s work, with matching glittery costumes. My role consisted of co-coordinating the project, and alongside Amanda Torrisi, managing the marketing, budget, funding, t-shirt sales and recruitment aspects of the project as well as assisting in the construction elements of the float. We were very fortunate and grateful to receive a special commendation award for our hard work.
